TERPENES

Are natural compounds that are responsible for the flavors, smells, and colors that are found in every plant on earth, including, of course, Cannabis. In addition, they are also directly associated with the unique feeling obtained when using our products. They are the little soldiers assisting our CBD products and holding their own.

You’ve probably come across the word ‘terpenes’ when googling CBD.  We certainly use it in all our products. Please note we only work with two of the best terpene companies in the world, located and made here in the United States. Essentially, terpenes are aromatic metabolites that can be found in the oils of all plants. There are more than 100 of them produced by the cannabis and Hemp plant.

The picture above shows some of the more common terpenes produce by hemp and cannabis. Terpenes are a vital part of our CBD products, plus each has its own unique impact on the human body even when taken individually. However, using these compounds  combined with CBD produces the biggest impact aka the entourage effect.

ENTOURAGE EFFECT:  This phenomenon, called the entourage effect results when the many components within the CANNABIS plant, like terpenes and CBD interact with the human body to produce a stronger influence than any one of those components alone – it’s a synergistic effect. To understand the concept think of it in terms of an escalator (CBD) that’s standing still because of no electricity (TERPENES ). It just becomes stairs now, technically it still works, but turn on the electricity and the escalator now works the way it was designed to. You now just experienced the  ENTOURAGE EFFECT.

Now let’s talk a little about one of the more ignored systems in our bodies. Did you realize we had a whole system named after pot?  Let’s look at the word “endocannabinoid”. Cannabinoid comes from “cannabis” and “endo” is short for endogenous which means that it is produced naturally inside of your body.

ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM – (ECS)  Promotes homeostasis in the body affecting everything from sleep, appetite, pain, inflammation, memory, and mood. So in basic terms, it helps modulate the regulation of homeostasis across all major body systems ensuring that all systems work in concert with one another.

The ECS is made up of three parts: Endocannabinoids, Receptors, Enzymes. Homeostasis is your body’s effort to keep everything in the right zone. Think of all the gauges in the dashboard of an airplane.

Those all tell the operator whether things are or aren’t operating in order.  Just like the electronics in a plane, your body works continuously to monitor important levels and functions in your body. Is your temperature too high, too low, or just right? Are your hormone levels what they should be? Do you need fuel or rest? When something is operating outside of the right range, your body activates the ECS to help correct it.

So when you are really hot and begin to sweat, thank your ECS to help correct it. The ECS does this via cannabinoid receptors found in select tissues. We have at least two types of cannabinoid receptors:

* CB1 is in the central nervous system , brain and nerves of the spinal cord.

* CB2 IS In the  peripheral nervous system, the digestive system and specialized cells in the immune system. Through those receptors, the ECS helps regulate a lot of important functions such as, APPETITE, DIGESTION, INFLAMMATION, MOOD , SLEEP, MOTOR CONTROL, PAIN.

WHAT IS CBD AND CAN YOU FAIL A DRUG TEST  IF YOU TAKE OUR PRODUCT?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of many cannabinoids or molecules produced by the cannabis family. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinoids (THC), the primary psychoactive element in marijuana , CBD is non psychoactive, meaning it does not make you feel high.  So the big question is can you fail a drug test using our CBD PRODUCTS?  THE ANSWER IS NO because we work with CBD ISOLATE, a crystalline solid powder that contains pure CBD and no THC. While it is true hemp derived CBD  doesn’t get you stoned, that does not mean it’s completely free of THC. According to federal law 2014 farm Bill, hemp plants and hemp derived products are legally permitted to contain trace amounts of THC 0.3% or less.

This does not mean your employer is okay with taking such products containing 0.3% or less (Please contact your employer for company policies on such products or simply do not use CBD products that are made with FULL SPECTRUM or even BROAD SPECTRUM) – yes broad spectrum can sometimes contain small amounts of THC which can leave trace amounts of THC.

Thankfully, for those who want to dabble in the world of CBD , but get cold feet after hearing about the presence of THC in hemp derived products, there’s still a way to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of this compound without other unwanted plant parts, CBD ISOLATE could be the right product for you. Below we have included three CBD TYPE charts to easily break down the types of CBD.

PLEASE NOTE  broad spectrum CBD  can have trace amounts of THC , so even if you do not  purchase our THC free products, be careful and always ask to see lab results to verify the product’s potency.  Here’s a link to our lab results:

CHICO'S OILS BODY BUTTER & BODY OIL

CBD TOPICALS -Additional Information

Everywhere you turn these days, there seems to be a topical product with CBD. From lotions and creams to salves and serums, the addition of CBD appears to be the latest trend in health care and skin care. But are topical CBD products truly effective?

How Are Topical CBD Products Used?

One of the biggest uses for topical CBD products is for musculoskeletal complaints. A 2019 report from the Arthritis Foundation found that 79% of the 2,600 arthritis patients surveyed had considered using CBD or had already used it. Twenty-nine percent said they currently used it for arthritis symptoms; among those using CBD, 55% used a topical product applied to the joints.

Topical CBD products can help address pain or inflammation that’s at a specific area of your body, such as on the joints. The product won’t enter the bloodstream. So a topical CBD product isn’t designed to address systemic problem, but it may help directly on the skin.

Reliable topical CBD products LIKE CHICO’S OILS should contain a form of CBD, PURE ESSENTIAL OIL AND TERPENES so they don’t just mask pain or inflammation as some over-the-counter topical pain relief creams do. They actually can make the pain go away for a certain time period, . This is because of the high concentration of cannabinoid receptors on the skin. Cannibinoid receptors are part of the body’s endocannabinoid system, a body-wide system discovered in the 1990s that affects many important functions.

Cannabinoid receptors are present throughout the body and are associated with pain sensation, appetite, immune function, mood and more. The chemicals produced by the body that interact within the EC system are called cannabinoids, and like THC and CBD, they interact with cannabinoid receptors.
